HR Manager (Maternity Cover)
Lakeside Hotel & Spa on the Southern shores of Windermere (1 mile from Newby Bridge) is owned by Classic Lodges. We have 83 luxury bedrooms, fine dining restaurant, brasserie, pool, spa and conference suite ‘overlooking nothing but the lake’
We have a friendly team of 110 employees and are always looking for positive and enthusiastic individuals to come on board. We are currently recruiting for the position of Human Resources Manager (Maternity Cover). Please note the anticipated duration of this contract is 12 months, starting in January 2026.
Key responsibilities:
· Managing the full HR lifecycle — from recruitment and onboarding through to engagement and retention.
· Acting as the first point of contact for employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary cases, and conflict resolution and maintaining appropriate confidentiality
· Maintain relationships with local schools & colleges with career events, attend job fairs and organise work experience placements for students
· Manage the staff accommodation units, completing monthly inspections and organise maintenance work if necessary
· Facilitate and co-ordinate onsite and external training courses e.g. Food Safety, Company In-house training, First Aid
· Ensure that the HR systems are always accurately maintained, ie: absences, change to personal details, etc.
· Provide management of the payroll system sign off, by dealing with pay queries, and pay adjustments, and ensuring that payroll is ready as required on time
· Produce data and reporting information on a range of different people related topics, working closely with the General Manager
What we are looking for:
· This role needs a degree of flexibility due to the nature of the business
· Experience of working in a fast-paced administrative role, with HR experience
· Excellent communications skills, with ability to communicate at all levels
· Good organisational skills and time management – the ability to multi-task
· Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to work under pressure.
· Ability to work on your own initiative
· Experience in a hotel or hospitality background preferred
· Have an inquisitive approach, with an eye for numerical data
· Up to date experience and confidence in the use of Microsoft Office.
· Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external contacts.
· Ability to handle conflict/confrontation effectively
· CIPD qualification is desirable
