Food and Beverage Service Apprenticeship – Duties & Hospitality Training
- Deliver a high standard of service to all guests in the restaurant, bar, and function rooms, ensuring a warm and friendly welcome at every interaction.
- Support colleagues with preparing tables, setting up buffets, and ensuring dining and event spaces are prepared as required.
- Take food and drink orders accurately using the hotel’s systems and relay details efficiently to the kitchen or bar.
- Serve food and beverages promptly to guests, checking satisfaction and responding positively to requests or feedback.
- Clear tables, restock service areas, and keep public spaces clean and tidy at all times.
- Assist in the setup and service of weddings, events, meetings and private functions.
- Learn and uphold all health, safety, and food hygiene procedures to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and guest care.
- Work collaboratively with the wider hotel team, including reception and housekeeping, to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Participate in ongoing hospitality training and development to progress in the food and beverage industry.
Key Skills & Qualities – Ideal Food and Beverage Service Apprentice
- Keen interest in hospitality and willingness to learn all aspects of food and beverage service – no previous experience required as full training will be provided.
- Excellent communication and listening skills, with a positive and helpful manner when dealing with guests and colleagues.
- Team player able to work flexibly across different shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- Reliable, punctual and well-presented, representing the standards and values of Farington Lodge Hotel.
- Willingness to follow instructions and complete apprenticeship training, both on the job and through coursework.
- Commitment to upholding a safe, inclusive and respectful working environment for all.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve guest enquiries or issues professionally.
